Eastgate’s Coronavirus Policy
Last updated: 15th March 2021
The purpose of this policy is to reassure and inform you. We want to reassure you that we’re taking Coronavirus seriously and inform you of our approach and the procedures we have put in place.
The information below is intended for all users of Eastgate. The latest version of this policy will be published on our website (search: Coronavirus) and emailed where appropriate.
Eastgate has been closed during the most recent lockdown and will gradually be opening up again in line with the Government’s Roadmap Out of Lockdown. This policy explains how we plan to operate over the next few months, subject to any updates from the Government.
We will continue to follow government guidelines (see the links below) which contain advice about how to protect yourself and others. The guidelines and advice are frequently updated and we would encourage you to look at them and follow the advice.
The following information explains how Eastgate is planning to operate over the next few months and how you can use the building.
Booking in advance
If you wish to hire rooms, work in the building or attend church meetings you will need to book in advance. This is necessary so that we can control the number of people in the building and so that we can contact you following any Coronavirus issue at Eastgate.
For the Coffee Shop please see guidance below.
Please don’t just turn up; we may not be able to admit you.
Inside the building
- Separate doors are used for entry and exit; please use the correct door.
- A one-way system is in operation in the building; please follow the arrows.
- Hand sanitiser stations are positioned around the building; please use them.
- Not all toilets are open; please use the ones that are.
- Please continue to follow government advice on social distancing, face coverings and regularly hand washing.
You will be required to wear a face mask or face covering when you enter the building to attend a meeting, apart from when you are eating or drinking. Office staff are not required to wear them while working.
The Coffee Shop will be open for takeaways from Monday 12th April 9am – 3pm, Monday to Friday. There will be seating outside if the weather is fine. From Monday 17th May there will be socially-distanced tables inside and outside which you may use according to the current government guidelines on who may meet together.
We may be able to accept room hire bookings if the usage of the room complies with current government guidelines.
Sunday morning church meetings are now Live Streamed from the building via YouTube. From Sunday 4th April there will be a congregation at this meeting; this will be socially distanced and only for adults at first. Secondary school children can attend but there won’t be separate provision for youth at this meeting. Booking online will be necessary. A full return including children’s and youth activities will commence in due course. From Sunday 18th April there will be an afternoon meeting from 3.00 – 4.00pm, with separate activities from the start for children aged 5-11 and also for youth. Adults will be in the auditorium. Prior online booking will be necessary. This meeting will also develop further over the course of time.
Please see our Church Online page (see links below) for details of all church meetings.
Eastgate staff will be able to work in the building if they have arranged this in advance. Office capacity will be reduced and remote working from home will still be the norm.
