Eastgate’s Coronavirus Policy
Last updated: 18th March 2020
The purpose of this policy is to reassure and inform you. We want to reassure you that we’re taking Coronavirus seriously and inform you of our approach and the procedures we have put in place. We also want to remind you that whilst we all need to take sensible precautions, there is no need to be overly worried about Coronavirus; the likelihood of infection is still relatively low and, for the vast majority, the illness is not serious.
The information below is intended for all users of Eastgate: general public, hirers and church members. The latest version of this policy will be published on our website (search: Coronavirus), displayed near the entrance to Eastgate and emailed where appropriate. A separate policy exists for Eastgate staff.
We’re following the government’s advice about Coronavirus which is published on the Public Health England website (see the links below). This website contains advice about how to protect yourself and others and we would encourage you to look at this information and follow the advice.
Following the updated government guidance on Monday 16th March 2020 to avoid all non-essential social contact, we regret that we have had to close Eastgate and its Coffee Shop to the public. Church meetings will also not take place, although we are providing various online options – click here for more. The building will be open to specific people for specific purposes with prior arrangement.
How you can help
- Read and follow the advice on the Public Health England website (see link below).
- If you or anyone in your household experience possible Coronavirus symptoms such as a fever or persistent cough, however mild, please follow government guidelines which, at the time of writing, are to self-isolate your household for 14 days. Use NHS online resources (see links below) and only contact NHS directly (either contact NHS 111 online or call 111) if symptoms worsen significantly.
- If you have any questions or concerns please contact us.
We will keep this page updated with the latest situation regarding Eastgate and Coronavirus; please refer to it for the most up to date information.
